Having your make-up professionally done can make all the difference in how you feel about the way you look on your wedding day. Make-up artists use professional make-up meant for film that can do more to hide skin imperfections and soften the harsh light that can be present at outdoor weddings.

Most salons offer this service and many make-up artists will come to you at your home or at your wedding day venue.  When choosing a make-artist, make sure to ask if their make-up is meant for film.  According to Alessandra of Alessandra’s Salon in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, “The difference between a professional make-up artist and someone who just happens to “do” make-up is the quality of the product they use.  Be sure to ask — the make up they are using should be meant for film.”

I have so many brides tell me that they feel they aren’t very photogenic.   Whether it is true or not, many people feel that they don’t photograph well and can become camera-shy. The way you will feel after a trip to the salon can help with this, but at Dozier Photography, we have a few other ways to help too.    Our wedding packages  include a free engagement session. This session, which typically takes place several months before your wedding, is an opportunity for the bride and groom to meet the photographer who will be at their wedding. It is a chance to become more comfortable with the person behind the camera. After these photos are processed, the photographer, not a technician, will consult with the bride and groom about any concerns. This is an opportunity for the photographer to understand what you like and don’t like. If you hate photos taken from your left side, we will learn that and remember it on your wedding day.

Some young'uns like to ham it up for the camera and will enjoy using the hat as their way to do so. Other children who are a bit more camera-shy can use the hat to hide, but curiosity will always get the best of them and when their head pops out from under that hat I am almost always guaranteed a smile.

I've been photographing this little doll since she was a newborn. One of things I love most about my job is getting to watch these little ones grow-up!
