About Us
The Dozier Studio is located in Arvada, Colorado – an easy drive from anywhere in the Denver Metro / Boulder area. The studio is located on a full acre that allows for both indoor and outdoor photo opportunities right on the premises. While much of our photography is traditional portraiture, we also do sports photography, event photography, extreme photography --skydiving, rock climbing -- and staging photography for realtors and other businesses. We love a challenge – bring us your photography needs and we will create a package just for you.
Founded by Wayne and Mary Dozier in 1990, the Dozier studio made a name for itself as the premiere wedding photographers in the Boulder area. As the studio grew, it became known for its award winning baby portraits as well . Continuing that legacy and that promise to the client, photographer and owner Karen Durbin chose to keep the Dozier name in honor of her friend and mentor Wayne Dozier when he retired and sold the business to Karen.
FROM BEHIND THE LENS:
Hello, and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Karen and my passion is photography. My career in photography began when I was given my first camera at the age of five. Chasing the family cats and borrowing the neighborhood dogs, my first venture into the world of traditional portraiture began with some pretty unwilling subjects. Time doesn't always bring that much change -- from toddlers to pets to the occasional groom, I still often photograph some reluctant subjects, but I can always get even the most camera shy person to drop his guard and laugh at me -- these are the moments I love to capture because I believe that photography is about capturing the essence of a moment; seeing grandeur in even the smallest of events; preserving a memory; and sometimes, just sometimes, seeing the world the way it should be instead of the way it really is. Photography is more than just an art form; it is the preservation of all we hold dear and it is my sincerest wish for all my clients that life will bring you moment after moment of grandeur and I thank you for inviting me into those moments and allowing me to freeze time for you and those you love.
